What's New for the 2016 Bala Cranberry Festival
October 14 - 16, 2016
For the last 33 years, the Bala Cranberry Festival has always been renowned for its exceptional shopping experiences, savory food and treats, and the opportunity for visitors to witness the bizarre harvest of this unique berry. This is still the case in 2016, and you can expect to find all of your favourite vendors and cranberry inspired treats available across town.
This year, the Bala Cranberry Festival will also be bringing an appealing collection of live performers and shows to entertain the crowds all weekend long.
Performances include live music all weekend long on the Maple Ave Main Stage, as well as at the Bala Bay Inn, Legion and the Beer, Beef and Live Entertainment tent in Jaspen Park. The weekend's headlining act will be Hotel California at The Kee to Bala, and tickets for this concert are still available at thekee.com. Book your tickets for this unforgettable evening, where the town of Bala will be celebrating the music and memories of one of the top bands of our generation.
Back by popular demand, Mighty Mike and his team of buskers will be performing on the Bala Falls Rd Stage throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. This team always puts on a great show and always leaves the crowd in hysterics. There are three buskers performing throughout the weekend, so try and catch a show from each of them!
New to the festival in 2016, Four Paws Flying Entertainment will wow crowds with its unique, fast-paced, high-flying entertainment. This canine performance includes skilled disc catching, high jumping, super fast agility and very cute tricks, and is something the entire family will enjoy.
The stage is set for championship wrestling in Bala, with shows at 1pm and 4pm and Saturday. These two shows on Bala Falls Rd will be a lot of fun, so plan to be there to cheer and jeer with the crowds.
Georgian Bay Airways will be offering float plane rides from the town docks on Saturday and Sunday. Get high in the sky and see the beautiful Golden Encore of the fall colours.
The Festival has also added a number of Kids’ Zones across town to encourage families with younger children to spend the day in Bala. Kids’ Zone areas include a Planetarium IMAX presentation at the Bala Bay Inn, petting zoo at the Bala Bay Inn, large blow-up inflatables, face painting, the annual Cran-Anne look-a-like contest, and the opportunity to get your photo with Santa, who is making a special trip to Bala from his summer home at Santa’s Village.
The Bala Cranberry Festival is always busiest on Saturday afternoon, so if you want a little more room to stretch and don’t want to face the larger crowds, consider coming on Friday, early Saturday morning, or all day on Sunday.
Make your plans to attend the 32nd annual Bala Cranberry Festival, and don't miss out on a great weekend of shopping, dining, and entertainment!
